With effect from 20 October 2008 and lasting three years, the Scottish Government is funding Road Equivalent Tarrif (RET) on fares for the ferry operated by Caledonian MacBrayne from several ports.  Uig is one of these ports and the effect of RET is that fares are reduced on journeys from Uig to Lochmaddy on North Uist and from Uig to Tarbet on the Isle of Harris.   Timetables and rates for the ferries operated by Caledonian MacBrayne can be found at:        www.calmac.co.uk
